A 25th anniversary celebration was held Friday and Saturday, 16-17 August 2002, at Cavalier Air Force Station, North Dakota. Currently operated by the U.S. Air Force 10th Space Warning Squadron, this installation was originally the Safeguard PAR (Perimeter Acquisition Radar). It has operated under Air Force control since transfer from the U.S. Army on 1 October 1977, shortly after the original Safeguard system was deactivated.
