Missile Site Radar (MSR) Complex
The 470 acre MSR complex was the largest and most important site in the Safeguard system. Its Missile Site Control Building (MSCB) contained the pyramid shaped Missile Site Radar (MSR) and the underground data processing and command/control systems that were to intercept attacking ICBM warheads with Spartan and Sprint defensive missiles. Spartan and Sprint launchers were also located at the MSR complex, with additional Sprint launchers located at four remote Sprint launch sites (RSL's).
The MSR installation also contained the headquarters, support facilities, and main administrative and housing areas for the Mickelsen complex.
