The PAR could detect and track multiple targets the size of a basketball at a range of 2,000 miles. Its function was to scan
northward for threatening ICBM warheads as they passed over the north pole. Preliminary trajectories were then computed
and passed to the MSR to allow it to begin preparing for interception. The PAR is the only Safeguard component still in
