Have you noticed the large missile located north of Cavalier? It is the newest addition in the plan to welcome everyone and make Cavalier a destination for fun, shopping, eating, staying, and learning a little history along the way.
The Cavalier Air Force Station will be celebrating 35 years of serving our area, in October. The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Cavalier wanted to acknowledge what they have done and continue to do.
CAFS squadron mascot is the Spartan. The Spartan signifies the heritage as a safeguard unit-to protect. Its shield represents the protecting shield and deflecting radar capabilities needed to deter hostile missiles or satellites.
Loren Reimer of Lorrich Industries designed and donated the replica. On Saturday, June 30, Barry Walton, Brandt Contracting, and several other workers erected the Spartan Missile.
The area North of town called "the triangle" is the new home of the Missile, it will have flags and a monument with the history of CAFS. October 12th will be the formal dedication.
