Minuteman missiles were maintained in these unattended underground silos scattered across the
North Dakota countryside. The missiles were to be
launched via remote command from an underground control room at one of the launch
control facilities (see photos 009, 012).
-
From Joe Frazel:
The picture is after the outer zone security
upgrade. The white pole took the place of four blue
antennas. You can still see the round concrete
pillars that held the antennas. The one is right in
front of the light blue/green exhaust vent, about 3' high.

An elevator in this building was used by the two launch control officers to descend to the
launch control capsule 70 feet underground.
-
Each missile launch control facility controlled multiple missiles (see 002).
-
From Joe Frazel:
D-0 was called Dodge City. Inside the main building,
there was a telegraph wire along one wall and a
stuffed jackalope on another. The walls down the
elevator shaft were painted brown for dirt, and
someone glued fools gold on the walls. It was a cool control center.

Langdon, N.D. (1999).

From Joe Frazel:
Bravo flight had LF-13. That was
a magnet for halloween and peace protestors. There
were stories that one year a group of protestors got
on site and placed a bunch of fake tombstones.
